Structure and function mutually influence each other via vascular (blood), neurological (nerve), lymphatic (drainage and defense mechanisms), endocrine (hormones), biomechanical (movement) and psychological pathways. These systems are at work in everyone to keep that person healthy and\/or to combat a disease. If one part of the body does not function properly, this can have consequences for all these systems.<\/p>\n<p>Voor een beter beeld bij osteopathie helpt allicht de volgende metafoor: Zou bij u thuis het licht in de gang het niet meer doen, dan vervangt u waarschijnlijk de lamp. Een osteopaat vervangt niet alleen de lamp, de osteopaat onderwerpt direct ook de stroomtoevoer, de lichtschakelaar en de stoppenkast aan een onderzoek. Want het kan natuurlijk gewoon slijtage zijn van de lamp, maar het kan ook zijn dat er te veel of te weinig stroom wordt afgegeven, in welk geval uw volgende lamp het waarschijnlijk ook niet lang gaat doen.
