Treatments
Osteopathy for adults
An Osteopath regards the body as a whole
When a part of the body does not function properly, it could result in physical complaints. Because all tissues are connected, the pain could radiate to another part of the body. An Osteopath examines where the function falters and treats (where necessary) to restore the natural connection between the different body parts.
In many cases, the consultation is followed by a physical examination to estimate if osteopathy can benefit you.
Treatment
During your first visit, we will start with a consultation to get a picture of your overall health. With the philosophy that all parts of the body interact with each other, we will go over your overall health, review your medical history, check your range of motion, and any discomforts you may be experiencing. In many cases, the consultation is followed by a physical examination to estimate if osteopathy can benefit you. If it does, we will explain the duration, impact, and results that you can expect from the treatment. After that is yours to decide whether you want to get this treatment done at our practice.
Some conditions need 2 to 3 treatments to heal while others need more.
Because the osteopath treats the cause, you can expect to experience a noticeable improvement after 3 osteopathic treatments. In case you do not notice improvement, your osteopath may use a treatment method that is not the most suitable for your physical problem at this moment. In that case, the osteopath will discuss this with you and will recommend another type of treatment. If your discomfort is treatable with osteopathy, the duration of the procedure varies from patient to patient. Some conditions need 2 to 3 treatments to heal while others need more. The Osteopath makes sure to leave a few weeks in between your appointments to ensure your body has time to recover fully.
Safety first
Safety is essential for osteopathy. During the examination, the osteopath may carry out safety tests if necessary. The osteopath may also request medical imaging results from your doctors, such as x-rays and scans, to determine if treatment is indicated and which techniques can be applied. Please bring any relevant medical results to the first consult if you have them.
