The history of osteopathy
The founder of the osteopathic approach is the american doctor A.T. Still (1828-1917).
He started the first school of osteopathy in 1892. His new medical vision arose during intensive research where he was influenced by different great pioneers in science. Still’s premise was that everything needed for good health could already be found inside the human body.
THE HISTORY OF OSTEOPATHY
Still was looking for non-medicinal and non-surgical methods to stimulate the body to regenerate itself. His focus was to resolve movement restrictions to enhance the circulation of bodily fluids. Still’s approach turned out to be quite successful, not only on the topic of muscle-related complaints, but also around other disorders of the body. Based on this, the modern definition of osteopathy had arisen. Nowadays, osteopathy is a well-respected profession practiced all over the world.
